This image is the only thing that I have to show for the amazing time I had last night: The view.

As I was walking in the presence of seven other women that I didn’t know–though a Las Vegas hotel that I was not familiar with, I wondered what on earth I was doing.  We found our way to the right tower, rode up the the fifty-sixth floor and entered the most amazing penthouse suite I have ever seen.  I still wondered what on earth I was doing.

Three hours later I knew.  I had been in the presence of sixty amazing sisters in Christ who were all passionate about the same thing.  And it was apparently that God had given me the courage to go so outside of my comfort zone that my husband probably was wondering what happened with the real Bethany when I told him about it.

I walked into a room of sixty women, and I didn’t know ONE of them before my trip to Las Vegas.  But I walked out of there with a community of women who I believe will be in my life now for the long haul.  Photographers.  Believers.  Dreamers.  A Family.

Pursuit 31.  A woman of virtue is a crown to her husband.  Proverbs 12:4.

Oh yeah. . . and I wore a dress.  Bet you can’t picture that one.

Rachelle, thank you so much for leading me to the group.  From the bottom of my heart.

Sitting in my hotel room–just closed the curtain to the view of the strip out our window.  It’s time for bed.  Three more classes jam packed with more information than I know what to do with.  It’s unbelievable.

I went down with Rachel after our classes to the casino, just to snap a few images of the action down there.  I felt like I was being illegal though–so we took turns passing the camera back and forth and shooting from our hip.  At the slots.  At the black jack table.  At the craps table.  We were giggly.  We tried to take a picture of the two of us with our candy bars.  But we were too giggly and my face was too big in the frame and then a lady who we didn’t even know walked by and took the camera out of my hand and tried to take our picture.  She kept walking back and back and back and finally stopped, fiddled with the shutter button and then walked back to us smiling like she had accomplished something wonderful, bless her heart.  When I looked at it later, we were like little specks in the picture.  It made me laugh first of all, that the lady would take the camera out of my hands without even asking, and I didn’t even know her.  And then I was puzzled at the fact that I actually let her do it.  But it was late.

Off to bed.  More adventures are to be had tomorrow.

Day 50!  Today was my first full day in Vegas and Rachel managed to remind me at 11:40 pm (EST) that I still had to take at least one picture.  She said she wouldn’t let me fail my new year’s resolution under her watch.  So we turned off all the lights in our hotel room and smooched myself against the glass of our window to grab a shot of where we are staying.

Three two-hour classes today, seven left in the course of the next three days.  If I learn even half as much as I did last year, I will walk out of here a happy woman–full of ideas, motivation and somewhat of a plan, though muddled and unorganized.

I got the chance to photograph lovely Little Miss Hayden again–this time for her one year session.  Hayden lives in New Jersey, but they have family here in Rochester, so they visit a few times a year.  I photographed her back when she was seven months old–so this time around she was a fast moving, cruising little one who I had to chase after for an hour.  But how adorable is she?  She melted my heart–and she totally rocked those pearls!

I hope potty training Carter is as easy as his transition from a crib to a toddler bed was.  Easy peasy–and that surprised me a LOT.  I was ready for many, many nap times and bed times of him getting out of bed, coming out of his room, playing with toys and just plain running around his room.  I kid you not, he got out of his bed two times on the very first day, and since then has not even taken a step out of bed until I come get him.  Crazy.  But one thing is sure–I certainly am one happy momma.  There are so many terribly tough things about parenting–It’s so nice to catch a great break every once and awhile!

And on an even better note–Carter has been taking these three hour naps.  Brayden NEVER did that!  I took this picture the other day at 4 pm.  I had put Carter down for his nap at 12:30 and I finally went in at four to wake him up because he had been sleeping so long!  I snapped this picture right before I woke him up.  Thankfully, he woke up in happy.

James is taking the boys to New Hampshire for the week.  I’m sure once they are there, the napping routine will get a little out of whack, and those three hour naps will be forever lost.  But I sure did appreciate them for this week–I’ve been sick all week, and the low key days have been really nice.
